Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing (QNFT)
DLS Safety Services is pleased to now offer mobile quantitative respirator fit testing (QNFT) services.
As opposed to a qualitative fit test, a QNFT measures the actual amount of leakage into the respirator without depending on a worker’s sense of taste, smell or reaction to the irritant. Any employees potentially exposed to toxic agents such as asbestos, lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, silica, hexavalent chromium, mold, solvents and others, should have quantitative fit testing.
Respirators that require a fit factor above 100 MUST be fit tested using QNFT.
How It Works
- DLS is able to fit test all makes, models and sizes of respiratory protective equipment, from N95 filter masks to SCBA full face masks.
- In addition to the QNFT, we ensure that your employees are properly trained to wear close fitting respirators. This demonstration of competence is an essential element of the fit test process.
- We fit test using the PortaCount Plus which provides the fastest, easiest, dependable, and most accurate fit testing method.
- Results are immediate and deliver either a ‘pass’ or ’fail’ using a numerical value. Results are maintained electronically and each employee receives a card with their test results.
As per CSA standards, fit testing should occur before the first use of a respirator and re-testing should be done no more than two years after the first test, but is recommended annually.
